PARKVIEW Ladies were disappointed at having to share the spoils with PSNI in a Senior League fixture.

The Doagh girls had the major share of possession in this Section 2 game played at the Ulster University's complex at Jordanstown, where Karen Barr gave her side the lead, only for the policewomen to keep their podium finish aspirations alive with a 1-1 draw.

Adapting quite quickly to the sand-based surface Susie Weir's girls had the edge throughout the first half, during which the home goalkeeper made fine saves to deny Nikki Turkington and Zoe Purdy.

Eventually a flowing move out of defence produced the opening goal. It started with left back Claire Dundee making a run, before linking with Susie Weir and Emma Stubbs on the opposite flank, from where she found Karen Barr, who deftly rounded the keeper and slotted the ball in to the net.

Strangely although Parkview were mainly on the attack, they failed to produce even one penalty corner in the first half.

After the interval the pattern continued with PSNI finding it difficult to get within shooting distance of Sharon Gaffney, whose opposite number again thwarted all scoring attempts.

Finishing strongly, PSNI forced three penalty corners in quick succession, and after the first two had been cleared by Karen Barr and Sharon Gaffney respectively, the third was hammered firmly in to the backboard to deny Parkview a win.

The point keeps PSNI in contention for the runners-up spot, while Parkview are still in the relegation zone along with Coleraine.

The Girl of the Game award went to Karen Barr who starred at right midfield.
