Battle for survival decided on Sunday

The battle for survival in Division 1 of the Armagh All County League will be decided on Sunday with the final round of games.

Four clubs including St. Paul’s, St. Peter’s, Killeavey and Culloville all face the threat of relegation but Dromintee who are sitting in the safe zone could effectively seal St. Peter’s fate.

As things stand St. Paul’s are bottom of the table on seven points. St. Peter’s are second from bottom on eight points, one point behind Killeavey and Culloville are fourth from bottom also on nine points.

Three crucial games have been fixed for Saturday at 5.00pm, St. Paul’s travel to Shane O’Neill’s but the fixture could be put back due to the Teghnevan mens involvement in the Intermediate Championship semi-final against Tir na Nog next weekend. St. Peter’s host Culloville and Dromintee play Killeavey. If the whites beat Culloville and Killeavey lose to Dromintee the Freecrow side would finish fourth from bottom and survive the drop.

Ironically there could be a final twist should St. Paul’s win the Intermediate Championship, they would avoid relegation with the three sides above them dropping to the second division.

Considering Dromintee are out of the Senior Championship and safe in Division 1, Killeavey would be fancied to stay up at the expense of St. Paul’s, St. Peter’s and Culloville who could be turned over by the whites on Saturday.
