Bayview hotel continues to sponsor 125 cc GP Race

MOYLE District and the whole of the North Coast are set to benefit from increased visitors attending the forthcoming Armoy Road Races.

That’s according to Trevor Kane, owner of the Bayview Hotel in Portballintrae, and sponsor of the 125cc GP Race, who has witnessed firsthand the boost to tourism that the annual event brings.

Trevor Kane has been owner of the Bayview Hotel for five years and has sponsored the 125cc GP Race since their inaugural race in 2009.

During that time he has seen an increase of tourists from across Ireland, North and South, as well as international road racing fans coming to enjoy the races and the attractions that the area has on offer.

“The Armoy Road Races are an integral part of the many annual events that take place in this area.

“I for one thoroughly enjoy the races and look forward to them each year and there is no doubt that I benefit from a few increased visitor numbers
in the Bayview Hotel,” he added.

Welcoming Trevor’s statement Bill Kennedy, Chairman of the Club and Clerk of the Course, said, “We are delighted that our wee race
contributes to wider businesses and tourism within the area – that’s important to us. Last year we conducted a survey during the races and it was unbelievable to see how many folk there were and how far they had travelled.

“There were quite a few from England and Scotland as well as from Europe.

“The Northern Ireland Tourist Board part funds this event and without their assistance and sponsors like Trevor Kane it would be much harder to ensure that the event was financially viable.
