Beattie tips Tir na Nog

Clann Eireann manager Mark Beattie looked a dejected figure leaving St. Peter’s Park after his side were beaten by Lurgan rivals Clan na Gael.

The big midfielder had prepared his side well but three converted Stefan Campbell frees sealed a narrow win for the Blues and set them up for a quarter-final pairing with Mullaghbawn this Sunday. Beattie watched five of his senior outfit impress when the Shore Road Minor side beat Cullyhanna in the Championship on Monday night and he also has a keen interest in this weekends matches which could result in the Intermediate semi-finals being an all North Armagh affair.

Mark is currently in a good position to make a judgement on this weekends ties. He said, “Few would begrudge St. Paul’s winning the title. They were the first side into the semis and I certainly don’t think they have had a bad season irrespective of their standing in the First Division. St. Paul’s have been without Andy Murnan for quite a while, he has been a huge miss but his team mates have set a new standard for themselves which they can carry through to other seasons.

“Tir na Nog are undefeated in League and Championship this season and will be the team to beat,” added the Clanns player manager.
