Beckett's Soccer Academy

BECKETT’S Soccer Academy principal Liam Beckett has confirmed he is in talks with two Carling Irish Premier League clubs with a view to linking the Academy with a top flight side.

“Yes it is true I have been approached by two current Premier League clubs who are keen to form an association with our Academy,” he said.

“Both these clubs are keen for us to form an official link with them with the purpose of our Academy developing talented young players from this area and then passing them to the senior club for further development.

“I feel it is also essential from our Academy’s perspective that we provide the best possible future and opportunities for all our kids and this has always been our aim as our progression continues.

“Developing young players’ natural ability is our motto but we must ensure that we are in a position to see that development come to fruition and that all of them find a level compliant with their ability.

“That is why it is imperative that the window of opportunity is open and available to the Irish Premier League for all of our aspiring young footballers.

“Both these Premier League clubs are very aware that we already have several very talented youngsters at our Academy and they are both very keen that we channel that talent towards them when we feel the time is right.

“I have further meetings coming up with both clubs as we will only be prepared to form an association with one Premiership club.

“I must be completely sure that whichever one we choose is the right one.

“Both clubs are well aware that the area of the North Coast is well stocked with proper football people, lots of ex-Premiership players who know the game inside out and who can instantly spot a player’s strength and then work on their weaknesses.

“We intend to make a decision soon as to what Premiership team we desire to form a partnership with and hopefully it will be an exciting time for all concerned.”
