Ben and Euan hit the target for U11s

WITH three of the normal team away, Dromore fielded a different starting line up than usual with Matthew Briggs slotting into centre back, Ben and Jack centre midfield and Matthew Thompson upfront.

Dromore started brightly with great efforts from Adam, Jack, Joel and Morgan. The team however had not really gelled well in their new positions and two players on quite a few occasions went for the same ball. This opened up the way for Lurgan to take the lead and also clip the bar.

The second half was a different story. After a good team talk by John, with a few tips on closing down and using the space, they began to work well and soon the ball was being passed around the field with great passion.

The defence started to work well, particularly Matthew Briggs who heading and clearing the ball well. Josh also made two good saves. Adam and Morgan were linking well and using Ben in the centre. Two of these breaks down the right produced two great corners from Joel.

The first found Ben on the edge of the d and with great power volleyed the ball home. The second was headed backwards by a Lurgan player, who played the ball to Euan who buried it from close range. It was nice to see Ben and Euan on the score sheet again.

Dromore started to show their power and passing skills. Joel and Euan combining well, for Euan to hit a great cross in but the keeper made an excellent save. Euan won two corners in a row. One was taken short to Joel, who with no one marking him made his way goal wards, he could not just get his short through a crowd of players. Euan hit a classy left foot shot just over the bar. Matthew headed just wide on two occasions and Jack went close too.

Well done to Jack who won player of the month, for good team work and great goals - he is one to watch for the future.
