Bert celebrates Gracehill's Anniversary with a double

AFTER success in the inaugural Senior Open at Gracehill at the beginning of the month Bert Freeman (24) set his sights even higher with a two point winning margin in the Anniversary competition with 43 points comprising 22 and 21 one for the front and back nines respectively.

Gareth Elliot (27) was second with Shaun McCook (13) one back on 40.

Shaun started with a front nine total of 15 but burnt up the back nine with a stunning 25 points beating Wallace McKeeman into 4th via countback. Chris Moore (13) scored 39 and Robert McNeill (2) won the gross on 32 points.

Twos went to B. Chambers, D. Cochrane, D.Currie, N. Greer, M. Huey, C. Kearns, C. McAuley, L. McCauley, S.McAuley, R. McKessick, R. McNeill, and D. Simpson.

The following day's sweep was one in great style by 7 handicapper amazing Ron Bell five clear of Laurence McCormick on 39 and Malachy Carey on 38 points.

Twos went to D. Calvin, M. Connor, M. Liken, C. McAuley, J.McBride, L. McCormick, M. Peden,and P. Scullion .

Monthly medal recipients for may were in Div 1 David Currie (11) with 69 beating Mal McConaghie ,Philip bell Darren Lamont and Joe Jenkins by 2points. In Division 2 John Liggott (22) had a great 63, an amazing seven shots clear of Gareth Elliot Colin McAleese and George Smylie on 70 with Drew Cochrane on 71.

The following day's sweep was won by Malachy Carey(20) on 39 points beating Eamonn Brown (16) on countback Cecil Linton(17) was two back for third. Only three twos were scored by Cecil Linton James McBride and Tom Sloan.
