Better conditions help tee up Mark to take top spot

The weather took a turn for the better this weekend at Silverwood and the members got a little break from all the poor weather recently and were able to play 16 holes this week.

The winner on Saturday was Mark Hampton with 42 points. He had 21 points on his front nine, with five pars at the 1st, 4th, 6th, 7th, and 8th holes along with one bogey at the 3rd hole, and two double bogeys.

His back seven holes yielded another 21 points, with one birdie at the 18th hole, one bogey at the 11th hole, and five pars at the 10th, 12th, 13th ,14th and 15th holes to win with four shots to spare.

In second place was Michael Devlin with 38 points after a great two under par round of golf with a front nine of one under with three birdies at the 1st, 2nd and 8th holes, one double bogey at the 5th hole and four pars for 21 points.

His back seven holes were just as consistent with two birdies at the 10th and 18th holes, only one bogey at the 13th hole and four pars for a great round of golf.

Third was Kevin Carson with 37 points, he had 17 points on his front nine holes with three pars at the 3rd, 4th and 7th holes along with six bogey’s.

It was 18 points on his back seven holes, with five pars at the 10th, 11th, 13th, 14th and 18th holes and two single bogeys.

The gross prize went to Patrick Jordan with a one over par round of golf.

He carded two double bogeys on the 3rd and 7th holes, with seven pars, his back seven holes were a vast improvement with three birdies at the 11th, 12th, and 13th holes and four pars.

The fourth prize went to Kieran Murray with 36 points, he had 19 points on his front nine with one birdie at the 1st hole, five pars at the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th and 8th holes and three single bogeys. A back seven of 17 points with one birdie at the 13th hole, one bogey at the 11th hole and five pars.

The fifth prize was collected by Brian McShane with 36 points He had 21 points on his front nine, with one birdie at the 4th hole, two pars at the 1st and 2nd holes, along with six bogeys. A back seven of 15 points with two pars at the 12th and 18th holes, one double bogey at the 15th hole and four bogeys.

The winner of the senior prize was Francis Kelly with 35 points.

The winner of the junior’s prize was Dara Morgan with 32 points.
