Beyond Limits TV show to feature Smyth

EGLINTON sprinter Jason Smyth is one of many Irish athletes who will be featured in the ‘Beyond Limits’ documentary on Setanta Sports next week.

The Beyond Limits tells the stories of elite Irish Paralympic athletes as they train andprepare for the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

This documentary follows the journey of athletes who have overcome physical barriers to not just compete but win at the highest levels in sport; capturing their personal stories, achievements, courage and hopes for London 2012.

The presenter is Mark Pollock, the blind and paralysed adventure athlete, who meets champion Irish athletes competing in diverse sports, from boccia to swimming, running, cycling and equestrian dressage.

Key characters featured along with Smyth include double World Handcycling Champion Mark Rohan from Westmeath. Mark has always been a star athlete; he played inter-county Gaelic football for Westmeath before a road accident left him paralysed.

Helen Kearney, from Wicklow, was diagnosed with a neuromuscular disorder called Friedreich’s Ataxia when she was twelve and she will be competiting in the equestrian dressage event at the Paralympic.

Beyond Limits will be broadcast next Monday night on Setanta Ireland at 9.45pm.
