Big turnout for ladies competition

SIXTY-FOUR ladies took part in last Tuesday’s competition which was an 18 hole stableford competition.

The better weather has made a big difference to the course and conditions are improving week by week.

This week’s winner was Denise Nelson, whilst Section winners were Mary Longmore and Lorna McKinstry. Diana Whan was the only lady to have a two - well done Diana.

Golfer of the Year Points were awarded as follows: 6 Denise Nelson, 5 Melissa Whan, 4 Mary Jo Thompson, 3 Helen Rankin, 2 Lorna McKinstry, 1 Lorna Poots

The Pink Ladies winner was Pat McCartan.

Early season handicap cuts were made to Denise Nelson (33-29), Helen Rankin (35-34), Lorna McKinstry (26-25), Lorna Poots (31-30), Mary Jo Thompson (35-34), Melissa Whan (33-31).

Congratulations to young Melissa Whan who, along with her sister Megan, took part in the All Ireland Antrim Girls Open last weekend and was overall winner - keep an eye out for both Melissa and Megan over the coming weeks and months.

- The Junior Cup team captained by Denise McBrien have played their first round home match v Omagh last Thursday and are 4-1 to the good; the return match is in Omagh on May 22.

The Miele team who were very successful last year reaching the Ulster semi-finals, started their new campaign on Monday against Rockmount.

The Cowdy Cup team, without doubt the most successful of the ladies teams over the years, start off on their quest for silverware next Sunday when they travel to Rossmore in their first round match. We will them every success.
