Big win for Third XV

BALLYMENA Thirds entertained CIYMS seconds at Eaton Park on Friday night and having been on the wrong end of a high score at Belmont they hoped to make amends. This they did winning by 49 points to 19.

This match involved plenty of running rugby and had the tries to match. First half tries from Andy Warwick, Adie Hamilton and Alan Smyth and a reply from the visitors made the half time score 21 points to seven.

In the second half the game opened up and with Ballymena dominating the exchanges Robin Adair, the enigmatic Ballymena second row player, scored four tries setting the scene for a memorable evening. The visitors replied with two team tries to bring the score 42 points to 19.

In injury time Ali McCosh set off from his own 22 to score in the corner and put over a touchline conversion to crown a good performance from a strengthened Thirds.
