It was a 14 holes sweep late in the afternoon and quite a number took the opportunity to play.

Ian Craven was delighted that he decided to take part. He won the competition and he also had the only “2” on the day. So it was good news all round for Ian.

1st- Ian Craven (14) 32 points.

2nd- P.J.Johnston (15) 32 points.

3rd- Aidan Lavery (19) 32 points.

SUNDAY AUGUST 7

Mel Hylands loves the Sunday Sweep and he has an ambition to play the 9 holes in 9 straight pars.

He came within a whisker of doing just that in this particular one. He parred the first 8 holes and was very confident that he could par the ninth. Did he get nervous? I doubt it. He bogeyed the ninth and it took a bit of the shine off his win.

It would have been perfect if it had happened as it was Mel’s birthday. He went round in 37 shots. I wonder is that his age.

1st- Mel Hylands (11) Nett 31.5.

2nd- Ian Craven (14) Nett 34.

3rd- John Crothers (15) Nett 34.5.

MONDAY AUGUST 8

B.J. McAnarney’s reputation in the golfing world continues to rise.

He fought tooth and nail in this 14 holes sweep in order to beat Philip Mallon. Using countback to separate them, it went down to the last two holes.

Cameron Morton had the only “2” and that pleased him immensely.

1st- B.J. McAnarney (20) 33 points.

2nd- Philip Mallon (7) 33 points.
