Black proves he is one to watch at Queen’s 5K run

The Larne branch of the North Belfast Harriers dusted off their racing shoes for the Queen’s 5K NI Championships at Ormeau Embankment.

First home for the locals was John Black in a massive PB of 16.08, John proving to everyone that he is the one to watch this year.

Nat Glenn, back racing after taking time out to concentrate on coaching, ran 17.02 in his first competitive outing since November last year.

David Clarke ran 17.38 and won the Northern Ireland V55 category.

The ever-improving Sarah Jane McFadden and Trisha Campbell, bringing out the best in each other, ran 20.00 and 20.08 respectively.

Saturday saw the second half marathon in a week, this time being Omagh.

The main man at the moment, John Black, produced an incredible run in a time of 1.15.13.

Hard to keep this man still, David Clarke was back at it, winning the Vet 55 category in a time of 1.20.59. Paul Hutchinson set a PB in a time of 1.25.58.

Janice Plumb came home in a time of 1.37.16. Sarah Jane McFadden and Trisha Campbell went to head to head again, this time over the longer distance.

Sarah Jane who ran a PB in a time of 1.37.21, was just too strong for Trisha on this occasion, who also ran a PB in a time of 1.43.52.

Carol Clarke had her first half marathon in over a year and produced an excellent run. She was pleased with her time of 1.50.35, just a few seconds from her PB from the Larne course last year.

Saturday also saw Matthew McIlroy perform for the first time as a NBH runner, completing Larne parkrun in a time of 21.20.
