Black '˜tuned in' for Raceview success

The top score came from David Black (12) who produced a total of 43 stabelford points.

A midday tee-off for David produced a front nine score of level par gross for 24 points, to which he added a back nine of five pars, bogeys at the 11th, 15th and 18th and a double bogey on the unlucky-for-him 13th which produced no points but he still managed 19 points from the other eight holes.

Second prize was claimed by Campbell Wade (15) with a total of 42 points, of which the first nine produced 20 points, despite no points on the second hole.

His second nine produced five pars and four bogeys which added 22 points to his total.

Eugene M Reid (17) took third prize with a total of 41 points and on a better second nine from Mervyn Arbuthnot and Ciaran Corbett.

Reid scored four pars plus two bogeys in the first six holes and he then bogeyed the next three holes for 21 points.

The first three holes on the back nine accounted for five dropped shots but he then parred four of the last six holes, giving him 20 points for the second nine.

Arbuthnot (14) had a superb opening nine holes of seven pars plus a bogey on the ninth and a double bogey on the third for 22 points. A closing nine of four pars, four bogeys plus a double bogey on the par three 16th added 19 points to his total.

That was enough to push Corbett into fifth place after the 11 handicapper went through the first nine holes in level par gross for 23 points while the second nine produced five pars, three bogeys and an unfortunate ‘ding’ at the 15th, which proved costly.

Sixth prize was won by Paul Rodgers (12) who scored 19 points on the outward nine which included a non-event on the par five third and he added 21 points on the inward nine, where the final two holes cost him three shots of his handicap.

The best gross card came from Steven Smyth (4) who toured the course on one over 69 shots, made up of a first nine of four pars, two bogeys and birdies at the first, eighth and ninth, while the second nine saw him record seven pars plus bogeys at the 14th and 17th.

SUNDAY OPEN

The Sunday open stableford was won by Gavin Mark (21) who scored equal nines of 20 points.

Second prize was won by Jake Carson who, off a five handicap, produced a total of 39 points.

The third nett prize was won by Gerald McLarnon (13) with a total of 38 points, of which the second nine produced 22 points, having played those nine holes in three over gross.

The best gross card came from five-handicapper Adam Barr with three over par 71.
