Blair wins turkey at Rathmore

SIX turkeys were up for grabs at Rathmore Golf Club on Sunday again but compared to last week the scoring was not so close.

Blair Cameron bagged 43 points to get the top bird. He had a relatively modest 18 points going out, with a double bogey five at the sixth, but the back nine was very different.

Only three shots were dropped to par until the eighteenth where Blair bagged a birdie! 25 back, 43 total, Christmas sorted. Blair was two points clear of Jonny Birch in second spot. Four handicapper Jonny returned 41 points, 22 from the front nine which included birdies at two and six. Jonny found the back nine a little more difficult, still grabbing two birdie threes at the twelfth and fourteenth, and added another 19 points to his tally.

John McIntyre came next with his 41 total.

Three birdies, at five, eight and nine, with only two shots dropped gave him 23 out. Only one birdie coming home, and a double bogey at twelve, limited the back nine haul to 17, a total of 41, and countback pushed him into third. Two forty pointers filled fourth and fifth spots, David McKay and Captain Colin Walker bagging these.

The last six holes divided these men with David taking fourth. Both played two steady nines of 20 points each but while David double bogied the eighteenth, Colin dropped four shots over the last four to slip into fifth place. The final bird went to Stephen Elliott (17) for his 39 points.
