Blaze stayed strong, but from then PVC brought their ‘A’ game and began winning some points. They gave some skillful hits and serves, which were difficult for Blaze to return. The score was now 21-17 to PVC and the serve on their side.

Blaze worked hard to bring it back, however PVC battled on to win the first set 25-20.

The second set was very tight between the two teams, with some fantastic spikes and serves from opposite player Melissa Traynor and outside hitter Rhian McCarroll. Blaze and PVC were in a draw for this set in the first half, Unfortunately Blaze were not able to bring back the second set and lost from strong defensive play from PVC, finishing at 25-18. PVC swept up the third set with a mere miss from Blaze at 25-23. Blaze played with great enthusiasm and precision, but unfortunately PVC’s experience of playing together got the better of the newly formed women’s firsts team. Thankyou for all players, coaches and supporters who attended the exciting first match of the season, and with special thanks to referees Jonathan Workman and Ewan Rogers, and scorer Sarah Scott and Emily Walsh.
