It was hoped this would be an equally exciting match contested between Senior One’s two most youthful sides butthe game failed to live up to expectations.

The bleak tornado-esque conditions were fitting for what turned out to be an equally bleak encounter.

Queen’s started the game the brighter of the two sides, but it was South who created the first noteworthy chances.

Some good interplay down the right hand side between Adam Glass and Jonny Patterson resulted in John Semple being played in. After deftly lifting the ball over the diving ’keeper, Semple could only watch as his shot ricocheted off the post.

South won three short corners before the break, but unfortunately none of these were converted. After the interval, Queen’s began to cause problems for the South defence.

The hosts unfortunately saw a short corner ruled out by the umpires, but took the lead soon afterwards, following some good interplay around the circle. For the remainder of the game South failed to create any real chances against the well organised students.

South will hope to bounce back from this defeat when they host Campbellians next week. Thanks go to South Antrim’s Sponsor of the Month, McMinn School of Motoring .
