Blistering Larne attack is too much for Strabane

Their free-flowing brand of rugby was too much for the visitors. Time after time, Larne set up quick ball and dominated the head-to-head collisions in open field.

Confidence was flowing through the Larne ranks and it wasn’t long before McAlister also bagged himself two tries. Mark McIlheron then scored the try of the day, arguably the season, when he collected the ball from the tail of the line-out on his own 10-metre line. He bashed through the first two tackles, side-stepped the full-back, and held off a further two defenders to cross the whitewash.

Larne made it 42-0 at half-time thanks to further well-worked tries from Hall and‎ Agnew.

With an injury to Mark McIlheron, the coaching staff took no risks and brought him off, playing the remainder of the match with 14 men.

Breakaway tries from Andrews and Ryan Garrett (two) put the game beyond doubt shortly after the re-start.

McKinty was next on the scoresheet as he hit a ludicrous line off Andrews and strode away under the posts.

The final score ended up 78-0 to Larne and represented another step forward in the league.

This weekend Larne travel to Lurgan for one of their toughest challenges of the season.
