Blue is the colour at bowls stadium

Many local bowlers who frequent Belfast Indoor Bowling Stadium at Shaw’s Bridge during the Winter months will notice a huge difference on their next visit.

New blue carpets have been laid and an electronic scoreboard installed as well as an extension to the shop.

The new facilities are already in place but the official opening will not take place until Tuesday, September 10.

Garvey B fall to Cloughey

Lisnagarvey B did not lose on three rinks but they went down by 16 shots at home to Cloughey thanks to a win by the visitors’ W. Sweetlove.

There was certainly nothing sweet about his performance or love shown by Bobby Carroll who lost by 25 shots after trailing 2-17 at the tenth and 3-24 at 15 ends.

Ahead 13-7 at the tenth and 19-9 at 15 ends Derek Porter added a four at 18 ends and went on to win by seven shots.

At the tenth Denis Rankin was 10-9 ahead and 13-11 at 15 ends. It was 13-13 at 17 ends and Garvey led 18-15 but had to settle for a tie.

A three at the tenth gave Alton Reid a 9-7 lead and 12-10 at 15 ends. Garvey lifted a five at 17 ends before winning by two shots.

FINAGHY 79 (5)

Finaghy made the journey to Annalong in NIBA Division Four knowing they had a big task in hand, but they created surprise when taking five points from a seven shots win.

Meanwhile Finaghy B could not field a team at home to Musgrave B in Division Seven.

John Cairnduff, skipping for the first time since returning to Finaghy had a fine win by 20 shots which set up the victory.

Randal Megrath was the other winner for the visitors, getting home by eight shots.
