Blues pocket crucial win over rivals Greenbank

Linfield continue to set the pace in the Larne and District Snooker League thanks to a 3-2 away win at closest rivals Greenbank ‘A’.

W. Stewart, J. McKay and John Ferguson all won for the Blues, while Davy Johnston and Davy Douglas both won for the home side. The results means Linfield open a three-point gap with 61 points.

Hot on Greenbank’s heels are St Comgall’s who won 4-1 against Carrick Golf Club ‘A’. Berti Pill, A. McIlwaine, J Gribben (32) and D. McDonagh took their frames with Ricky Bradley replying for the golfers. Ballyclare Golf Club couldn’t quite get into the swing of things as they lost 3-2 to Comrades ‘B’. Trevor Mairs and Darren Agnew registered wins for the Ballyclare with S Crymble, Joe Lennon and Tommy Hart providing the cutting edge for the Comrades.

The Point had a 3-2 home win over the much-improved Ballylumford team. Graham Ferguson, Gary McNeill and Steven Girvan (24) all won for the Carrick-based side with M. McWilliams and Jim Magill responding for the visitors.

Comrades ‘A’ pocketed their fourth win of the season a fine 4-1 success over Greenbank ‘B’. Ronnie West, M. Leach, Jim Taylor and Steven Shannon won their frames with Hugh McMurtry responding for the visiting team. Elsewhere, Carrick B defeated St John’s 4-1.

Greenbank ‘A’ won the Hugh Beggs Memorial three man handicap tournament defeating Latharna.

Greenbank’s squad was made up of D. Douglas, D. Johnston, R. Kinnon and W. Harper.

The Open Individual final between Neil McKelvey and Gavin Carmichael will be held in St Comgall’s Club at 7.30pm on Tuesday, March 26.
