Blues prepare for Rosenborg battle

Speaking at a press conference in Norway after the squad arrived safely at their base Jeffrey said they will go into the Champions League qualifier believing they can causean upset.

"We are not lambs to the slaughter but we are realistic about the challenge in front of us," said Jeffrey. I think we surprised them at Windsor Park but that surprise element is now gone.

"I suppose there is not much more we can do because we played so well at home and tactically we must do the same again on Wednesday night. But with a little luck you never know and I don't mind the players having a dream about winning.

"Rosenborg are geared to playing in the group stages of the Champions League and there is a steely determination about them.

"They will be desperately fired up and no doubt they will be coming at us like a steamroller. Lets not forget we are only part-time players up agianst an experienced Rosenborg team.

David Jeffrey played for Linfield when they met Rosenborg in the European Cup in 1986.

Rosenborg coach Nils Arne Eggen says his tema must be patient. "It will be tough to break through the defensive wall. However we must look to get ahead 2-0 and then we can be more assured. There is always a starting point. We must be patient and this will only lead to a positive outcome."
