Blues visit Drumahoe tonight

Crusaders Ladies2

YMCA Ladies0

YMCA Ladies have now played the top three teams from last season and will hope now to start picking up points in the coming weeks to move them up the table and reflect their performances so far this season, starting tonight (Wednesday) when they host Linfield at Drumahoe.

The girls produced their best display of the season so far when they suffered a narrow defeat at the current Premier League Champions and Northern Ireland's European Womens Champions League representatives Crusaders last Wednesday evening.

Crusaders are hot favourites to retain their league title this season and started very brightly against the youthful YM side playing some excellent one touch football. YM however battled for every ball and competed brilliantly all over the pitch and played their own excellent passing game.

Avilla Bergin and Kendra McMullan were dangerous on the break and the midfield McKeever, Nicholas, Lapsley and Sarah Bergin restricted the Crues’ to shots from distance.

The closest to a goal in a very even first half was a cracking drive from the edge of the box which Kirsty Eddis in the YM goal tipped superbly over the bar.

The Crues started the second half in determined mood but again the YM defence of McSheffrey, Price, McCarter and Archibold were outstanding and repelled everything that the Crues threw at them

On 70 minutes the deadlock was broken when the Crues took the lead with a cracking drive from the edge of the box which sailed into the top corner giving Eddis no chance.

YM went on the offensive and had both Bergin and McMullan had half chances to level but the Crues keeper was equal to the task each time.

Crusaders clinched the points in the closing minutes when they scored their second goal from close range.

This was a very impressive performance from the young YM side who earned the plaudits of all the spectators at the game.

Everyone played their part but special mention should go to Tasmin McCarter, Chloe Archibold and Sarah Bergin who had outstanding games.
