BMX: Strong performances from East Coast Raiders

Members of the Larne-based BMX club, East Coast Raiders, performed well in round seven of the Irish National BMX Series in County Meath at the weekend.

The Raiders’ youngest rider, Ruben Smith, took part in the Under-8 Boys’ category and rode brilliantly to secure a well-deserved first place.

Next up in the Under-9s was newcomer Bradley Burns who showed his potential with a seventh-place finish.

In the 8 to 10 girls’ section, Aimiee Smith had a great day taking second spot on the podium.

In the 16 to 29 Men’s group, Neill Burns claimed seventh overall.

The club fielded three riders in the 30-plus men’s category. Geoff Lynch was on top form narrowliy missing out on a runners-up spot by moto positions to finish third overall.

Geoff Craig and Paul Ewart both took top-eight placings, claiming more valuable points for the newly-formed club.

The final round of the Irish National BMX Series takes place on October 20 at DC Indoor BMX track in Dublin.
