Bobby takes fourth place in the McCann Cup A3 race

Almost 300 riders turned up at Seskinore on Sunday 10th March to take part in one of the five races on offer at the McCann Cup promoted by Omagh Wheelers.

There was a full field of riders for the A3 race and although the course was draggy in places the pace was fast but despite this a group managed to get away.

Among these was John McAuley of Apollo CT who has been particularly aggressive in the past few races. Along with him were Mark Shannon (Burren CC), Paul McCarter (Omagh Wheelers), and Stuart Scott (Team Madigan). This group maintained a lead for much of the race. McAuley finally blew in the closing laps as much because of the cold as anything but in the last lap there was a sea change as Matthew Heaney of Clann Eireann turned on the acceleration and powered through the bunch to line it out as he left them behind.

Cathal Doyle of Carn Wheelers tried to go with him but was left behind as Heaney powered to take eventual victory well clear of second placed Doyle. Mark Shannon (Burren CC) pushed Bobby Kane (Bann Wheelers CC) into fourth while Gary McDonald (Team DMG) and Alex Donald (Phoenix CC) took fifth and sixth. Daniel Stewart (East Antrim Audi) and Peter McBride (Errigal CC) cleared the remaining points.

Well done to Bobby Kane on yet another excellent performance so early in the season.
