Bourne ultimatum for Seapatrick

Seapatrick 2

FOR 40 minutes of this league game Seapatrick were outmuscled, outplayed and lacked any creativity but still managed to go in at half time even.

Seapatrick keeper Bert Doherty pulled off a great save after a headed effort from Mark Boyce.

The Bourneview midfielder had another two efforts from inswinging corners and it was third time lucky as he rose unchallenged to make it 1-0. Alan Wells should have made it two but screwed wide when well placed.

Again Boyce was unlucky as he saw yet another headed effort cannon off a post.

It was however Seapatrick who got the next goal. A hopeful Aaron Gallagher ball was pumped into the box which Aaron McEvoy headed into the air and as the ball dropped he volleyed sweetly into the top corner.

As the second half got under way a completely transformed Seapatrick had emerged. They fought for every scrap, won their battles all over the park and were playing very attractive football on the ground.

From a move that consisted of 15 passes Tony Graham cut in from the right and unleashed what looked an unstoppable effort destined for the top corner. The Bourneview keeper somehow managed to get a hand to it and push it onto the angle of the crossbar.

Chris McGrath was then unlucky to see an effort go marginally over. Alan Wells should have wrapped it up with the goal at his mercy but to the relief of Seaptrick he shot wide.

Seapatrick’s second was a superb goal. Make-shift centre forward Marty Buchanan flicked a long ball into the path of Aaron Gallagher. Gallagher's run took him wide but he cleverly chipped the keeper and watched the ball nestle into the back of the net.

Two minutes from time Bourneview got the equalizer. A 40 yard free kick was pumped into Seapatrick’s box keeper Doherty's initial save went into the air and as the ball came down bounced behind him into the net.

Both teams pushed for a winner but it finished all square. A special thank you goes to Jack Wills and Christopher Dale who were a great help at the match. Seapatrick have a home fixture on Saturday at Crystal Park against Laurelvae.
