Bowler Erin strikes gold in Cyprus

Erin Smith from Ballymena Bowling Club is celebrating a gold medal performance at the Atlantic Championships which were held recently in Cyprus.

Erin teamed up with fellow Irish Internationals, Bernie O’Neill and Sandra Bailie to claim gold in the triples event.

The Irish Triple successfully steered their way through the group stages and after beating Wales 13-11 in a play-off match they met Scotland in the semi finals.

This turned out to be a really close game but the Irish ladies held their nerve to claim a narrow 16-15 victory and set up a final against England.

The Irish Ladies were in fine form and turned in an excellent performance to win the game by 19 shots to 13 and win a coveted gold medal.
