Bowls Cup tie this weekend for Foyle

Foyle & Londonderry College entertain Belfast Royal Academy this Saturady, in the Danske Bank Ulster Schools Bowl quater-final’s.

While in the Medallion Trophy, also at the quarter-final stage, Foyle host Ballymena school Cambridge House Grammar School. Both games kick-off at 10.30am.

Limavady Grammar travel to current Schools’ Cup holders Methodist College (KO 11am).

Meanwhile the North West regional qualifier for the 2014 Girls School Cup will take place tomorrow (Thursday), at St Marys College, from 10am-12noon.

St Mary’s, St Cecilia’s, Thornhill, Lisneal, Oakgrove, Strabane Academy, Limavady High School and Limavady Grammar will all be competing for the chance to progress to the quarter final stage of the province wide competition.

There are also qualifiers taking place in Ballyclare, Belfast, Fivemiletown and Lurgan.

This years competition has had a brilliant response with 65 teams entering, almost a 50 per cent increase on the numbers from last year.

The Girls school Cup is run as a Tag Rugby competition which allows girls of all secondary age to take part.

The teams have all been having coaching sessions with Ulster Rugby staff within their PE and after schools sessions.

These sessions are provided through the DCAL programme Tackling poverty, social exclusion and equality through rugby.
