The Lynda Avenue team toasted only their second win of the NI Private Greens League Division 1 campaign, pocketing a crucial six points from the visit of the 2013 champions.

It also helped ease Transport away from the drop zone, which is now occupied by Willowfield, Ewarts and newly-promoted Ards.

“It was undoubtedly our best display to date,” Transport’s Davy McCartney told the News Letter. “We don’t have a particularly good record against Dunbarton . . . it’s been quite a long time since we beat them.

“The result helped put a bit of breathing space between the teams below us. But we must now produce that type of display on a consistent basis.

“We don’t want to be pulled into a relegation battle. Ballymena are now the team above us, but they are 12-and-a-half points in front.

“It’s a matter of trying to get as many points on the board as possible.”

Billy Johnston was Transport’s top performer, skipping his rink to an impressive 22-9 win over Myles Greenfield.

Mark Trew and Billy Faulker also made a significant contribution, beating Conor McCartan (19-14) and Marty Trainor (20-16).

DJ Wilson earned Dunbarton’s only point with a 28-22 win against Billy May.

In NIBA Division 2, Mossley won 5-2 at Salisbury. Glengormley lost 6-1 at home to Newry in Division 5.
