Ballymena Samaritans last week received a cheque for £5000 from Eamonn Loughran, former world welterweight boxing champion, who organised a ‘white collar’ boxing event to raise funds for the branch.

Eamonn said: “I am delighted to present this cheque to such a worthwhile organisation on behalf of Braid Amateur Boxing Club and all the participants who made the event the best amateur boxing night in Ballymena.

“It was a great night and I would like to thank all those who helped to raise the money to support Ballymena Samaritans.

“Anyone who would be interested in taking part in a similar event next year should contact Braid Amateur Boxing Club for more information,” added Eamonn.
