Busy period lies ahead for All Saints boxing club

JOEL Scullion leads a busy few weeks for All Saints Boxing Club, beginning this weekend.

The Ballymoney Road teenager competes for a Belfast Select team against a visiting team from Washington DC in a return trip following the Ulster boxers’ trip to the US last year.

Scullion is up against Paul Jerry, the same opponent he boxed in America, in what is an eagerly-awaited re-match.

The event takes place at Belfast’s Europa Hotel and is sold out.

Closer to home, the club will be blooding a few of its youngsters in forthcoming shows, including fund-raising fight nighst for Portglenone GAC at Tullyglass Hosue Hotel (February 4) and a similar venture for Kilrea GAC on February 10.

The Cushendall Road club also intends to give a few of its newest members a first taste of competitive boxing in the Co Antrim novice championships at the end of January, while four All Saints boxers – Curtis Greer, Dean Hughes, Sean Kelly and Daniel McAteer – are also earmarked to compete in the Co Antrim Youth championships in mid-February.
