Carton wins Ulster boxing title in Newry

Newly formed Maydown ABC, clinched the clubs first Ulster title earlier this month at the Ulster senior Elite finals in Bellinis Hotel, Newry.

Talented boxer Oran Carton claimed the boy 1 39kg Ulster Novice Championship title.

Head Coach, Sean Devenney praised Oran for his performance throughout the championships.

Oran beat boxers from Donegal and Tyrone and defeated Sean McDonagh from Cavan in the boy 1 39kg division final.

This is Oran’s most recent accolade after claiming the Donegal novice title along with club mate Reece O’Donnell a few weeks ago.

Maydown Olympic ABC continues to grow from strength to strength and has been very successful in the short time it has been open.

The club, which was only formed this year, aims to serve the greater Enagh area, taking in Maydown, Strathfoyle and Campsie and all newcomers will be made more than welcome.
