Chloe has great run in Dublin to reach Open Youth final

Lisburn boxer Chloe Fleck had a great run in the recent Irish Senior Cadet Finals, reaching the final of the Female Open Youths competition.

Chloe, 17, a member of Canal Boxing Club, took part in the All-Ireland Youth Championships in Dublin, narrowly missing out on the title, but earning a place in the international tournament, where she will represented Ireland against England.

Chloe took on Niamh Carthy from St Brigid’s Boxing Club, Kildare in the quarter final stage.

The local boxer came out on top with a 3-0 winning score to pave the way to the semi finals.

Next up was the semi final against Shannon Sweeney from St Anne’s, Dublin, which Chloe was delighted to win 2-1 on a split decision, in a win which took Chloe through to the final.

Chloe met Emma Flannery, Baldoyle, in the final, in a repeat of last year’s final, which Chloe lost 3-0.

The local girl was delighted to receive her first call up to box in an international tournament, representing Ireland against England.

The Girls in Green went head-to-head with England at the National Stadium on Friday March 27 and at the Clann Naofa BC, Dundalk on Saturday, March 28.

Chloe took on Molly Perkins in the 48kg Youth bout in Dundalk and will be involved in another international bout in a few weeks time.

Coaches at Canal Boxing Club said they were happy with how Chloe has been doing and wish her well for future bouts.

Meanwhile, the club wish Reece Russell all the best in the Irish finals.
