While the Cushendall Road club continues to work with boxers at all levels and ages, the big target for the club’s top fighters is reaching next year’s Commonwealth Games in Scotland.

All Saints has provided boxers for the Northern Ireland squad for each of the last two Commonwealths and club coach Gerry Hamill believes that accolade is achievable again.

“Steven Donnelly was disappointed with how he performed at the Games four years ago and he is anxious to get back again, while Joel Scullion and Vinny Esler could both also be in with a shout.

“There will be a number of important dates for those boxers but the Ulster Senior Championships will again be the main factor for Commonwealth Games selection,” added Gerry,

All three boxers face their first competitive action of the season as All Saints hosts a fight night against Belfast club Holy Trinity in Ballymena North Centre this Saturday evening, October 5.

A number of the club’s other young boxers including Connor Davies, Ricky Moore and Reece McDonnell will also be in action, with boxers from both clubs eyeing up places at Irish under-22 level. There will also be five novice intermediate contests, featuring boxers making their ring debuts.
