Powerlifting: Records galore for the members of Aaron’s Gym

In Newtownabbey Jenny Brown benchpressed a massive 100Kgs to achieve a record, first time this by a woman in N.Ireland Powerlifting RAW.

U23 competitor Peter Lawrence benchpressed a PB of 115Kgs at a bodyweight of 90.8Kgs to achieve first place.

U20 Daniel McAuley benchpressed a PB of 107.5Kgs at a bodyweight of 72.4Kgs to achieve a first place. Daniel’s technical ability was praised by the NIPF.

Ciaran Conroy benchpressed 150Kgs at a bodyweight of 102.9Kgs for first, while Matthew Doyle benchpressed a PB142.5Kgs for first.

Reece Klewchuk and Matthew Henry competed at the IDFPA championships in Cork, junior competitor Reece gained a first place award with a 115kgs benchpress at a bodyweight of 67.4Kgs and also battled against 10 other competitors in his class to gain the best overall award.

Matthew took first with a 220kgs deadlift at a bodyweight of 74kgs, battling against 14 of the country’s finest to achieve his placing. Both competitors have qualified for Europeans and Worlds.

There was another first for the team three competitors against the best in GB. They achieved personal ests on all lifts and brought home a British record. All made the qualifying totals for the European Championships in June when they hope to have a team of five competing. Thomas Cardwell had a British record benchpress of 202.5Kgs, squat 300Kgs and a deadlift of 280Kgs. Terry Coey’s first three lift competition had a benchpress of 160Kgs, deadlift of 245Kgs and squat of 200Kgs.

Andrew Burrows had a bench press of 130Kgs, deadlift of 240Kgs and squat of 240Kgssome great personal bests from Andrew with that total just keeps rising.
