Interest is red hot in the vent which has been dubbed ‘Autumn Anarchy’ by the organisers NI Live Vision.

Stuart Cullen, spokesperson for NI Live Events, told Times Sport that they are on the lookout for more would-be boxers.

“Since the night we have had nothing but good reports and we are already in the planning process for our next event in November,” revealed Stuart.

“As well as signing up fighters, we will have sponsorship opportunities for local businesses, with headline sponsorship and individual fight sponsorship.

If it’s anything like the first event it’s bound to be a rip-roaring success.

After eight weeks hard training 18 brave souls took to the ring at the Kelly’s Complex to slug it out raising over £17,000 in the process.

The crew of NI Live Events also put in weeks of hard work to make sure the event had all the glitz and glamour of a Las Vegas title bout.

“There was only one venue on the North Coast that could house our event and from day one Kellys were 100% behind us,” said Stuart.

“Tickets were sold out within two weeks of going on sale. The week of the event our emails and phones were running red hot with people asking for tickets.

“The main purpose of this event was to raise money for the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children and can I just take this opportunity to thank all the fighters who raised over £17,000 for the charity.

“We promised to put on a spectacular event and I think we stayed true to our word. Twenty-four hours was spent transforming Kellys in to our boxing arena. Everything from lights to screens and even pyrotechnics were installed into the venue. We would like to thank LSFX for all their help and support with the production of the event.”

Dawn Weir, Community Fundraiser for the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children (NICFC), thanked everyone for their efforts.

“We are immensely grateful to the organisers, NI Live Events, main sponsors Rutledge Recruitment and the fantastic participants who helped make the first ever White Collar Boxing in Portrush, an immense success,” she said.

“The participants who took on this vigorous challenge did so to help the NICFC support local families who face their own challenges everyday as they nurse a child with cancer, to date a phenomenal £17,000, has been raised, which will make a huge positive difference to the families we support and we are delighted to receive such amazing support.

“Every week in Northern Ireland, another three children, teenagers or young people will be diagnosed with cancer. It is thanks to the generosity and support of local communities and organisations, such as NI LIVE Events that the NICFC is able to meet the needs of hundreds of families coming to terms with the devastating impact of a childhood cancer diagnosis by providing practical, emotional, social and financial support at a time when it is most needed.”
