Steven heads All Saints fight night list

STEVEN Donnelly will be back on home soil as the star attraction in All Saints Boxing Club's annual fight night in the Leighinmohr House Hotel this Saturday, May 22.

The 21-year-old returns this week from a trip to Canada where he has been competing for an Ireland 'A' side and he was one of the Irish winners in a 6-2 defeat to a strong Canadian side in Regina City.

That and this Saturday's bout, where he meets Monkstown's Michael Bustard, will keep Steven in tip-top shape as he prepares for the Commonwealth Games box-offs in July.

All Saints will benefit from the presence of a number of top Ulster boxers in the same boat of wanting to stay in competitive shape for those box-offs, making it a superb line-up.

Local interest is added by All Saints' Vinny Esler, Joel Scullion and Gary Miskelly, while two of the Cushendall Road club's 'young guns' Curtis Greer and Dean Hughes will also be in action.

Outside the ring, there will be plenty going on, including fund-raising auctions which will be of interest to many sports fans, not simply boxing followers.

Among the lots will be a signed Ulster rugby shirt and a Northern Ireland shirt signed by NI-based Manchester United brothers Jonny and Corry Evans.

There will also be a signed Manchester United shirt from a few seasons back, featuring the signatures of such stars as Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand, along with former goalkeeping legend Harry Gregg.

Around 20 tickets are still available and can be obtained, either as a table or on an individual basis, by contacting any All Saints official.
