Ben Lancaster, Declan Moore, Ryan Roy, Michael Agnew and Mosa Kumbule represented the local club.

Out of the five, Declan, Ryan and Michael all reached the final, with Ben and Mosa receiving a walkover as there was no one in their weight, but there was in the weight above Mosa.

First up was young Declan Moore, who with only three fights, stepped in to fight a much taller, more experienced boxer.

As the bell went, Declan’s man came out and started well, using his height and reach to advantage. As the round went on Declan got some good shots in, but his man used his jab and long reach well and it was difficult for Declan.

As the fight went on Declan showed some great heart and got in some great shots. In the end his opponent proved just too much for Declan, but a fantastic effort none the less.

Next up was Ryan Roy, who was fighting a tough boy from Bangor Boxing Club. As the bell went his man came rushing out and Ryan moved brilliantly to avoid a left, right combo and countered left, right to the head.

As the round went on Ryan moved well and used his job to really good effect. Ryan landed some good body shots in the second round, also using his jab well.

Ryan’s fitness began to show in the third round, dominating the fight. Ryan could sense victory and pushed his man back with a series of jabs, to be crowned County Antrim 6’s Boy 3 36kg Champion.

Michael Agnew was up next, facing a favourite boy from Clonard Boxing Club. As the fight started, his man unleashed a series of punches, which rocked Michael onto the ropes.

This seemed to ignite Michael and he punched his man back to the other side of the ring, in a fantastic fight.

The crowd were on their feet throughout as both fighters gave their all. As the bell sounded the end of the fight after the third round, it was announced this was the one of the best fights witnessed in a long time.

Michael was crowned Co. Antrim Champion and rightly deserved as he fought a brilliant fight.

The last fight of the night was Mosa Kambule, who bravely took the fight with the heavier, more experienced man.

Mosa’s man started well, using his long jab to good effect, as Mosa struggled to get in. As the round went on his opponent continued to dominate.

In the second round it was a different story as Mosa started to move well and get past his man’s jab and land some good shots.

Mosa got to grips with the fight and landed some nice combo’s. At the end of the fight everyone was impressed with what they had witnessed, but it was Mosa’s opponent who was judged the winner.

A brilliant effort from all the boxer’s from Lisburn Boxing Club, who are continuing to produce champion after champion.

The club is holding a Fight Night tonight (March 6), where all the champions will be fighting in a night of quality boxing.
