‘Support has blown me away’ says Magee

“I have had tons of support from Lisburn and from all the countries I have fought in,” said Magee.

“I’ve had messages from Denmark, Costa Rica, Panama, I’ve been blown away by it.”

Explaining the impact the ban had, the local boxer said: “My family were all in tears, they couldn’t understand it. It was constantly in the back of my mind, thinking, ‘how do I prove my innocence here?’

“I have a wee fitness club, Magee Health and Fitness, with boxercise, circuits etc, and only having that was a lifesaver. The best medicine is a bit of exercise, instead of letting my mind be tormented. For a while things were so dark, I didn’t know which way to turn.

“My head’s a lot clearer now, but the more I think of it, the angrier I get. Without a doubt there doesn’t seem to be any regulation of supplements.

“The support I received from friends and family, my team and people from other countries brings a tear to the eye.”

Magee hopes to fight again before the end of the year.
