White Collar fight night a success

A White Collar charity boxing night has been hailed as a resounding success by its organisers.

Well-prepared teams from Larne Borough Council / Larne Select White Collar Boxing and Tesco Northcott went toe-to-toe the ring at the Valley Leisure Centre last month, raising a superb £3,331 for Women’s Aid and Cancer Research in the process.

The show was organised by Champions Kickboxing Club who trained the Larne team and Bodyshots Gym who put the Tesco team through their paces. Each team trained for 12 weeks and, having no previus boxing experience, it was an extremely big challenge for fighters and coaches alike. Over the weeks, they improved their fitness and developed the skills and techniques of boxing. All fighters were highly committed and dedicated to the intense training schedule.

Larne team coach Wilson Snoddy said: “The atmosphere on the night was electric! An audience of nearly 800 family and friends turned up for the event, giving their full support to all fighters. Tesco Northcott were the better team on the night, winning 11 of the 18 bouts yet each individual fighter from team Larne give it their all. A massive well done!

“Regardless of the results, each fighter fought for two very worthwhile charities.”
