The Cloughan outfit were beaten finalists in 2013 but a win over Omagh Academicals on Saturday (2:30pm) would see them secure a spot in the showpiece for a second year in a row.

Robert Boyd’s lads lost the decider to Ballynahinch II last time around but under the guidance of new coach Chris Campbell they’re hoping to go one better.

A quarter-final success over Belfast Harlequins II booked Ballyclare’s passage to the last four.

Saturday’s visitors, despite having failed to reach a Junior Cup final since the 1980s, are no slouches. They knocked out the holders in the last eight, so this weekend’s tie should be an intriguing encounter.

Ballyclare captain Robert Boyd told the Times: “For us, we’ve had a taste of Ravenhill over the last couple of years and the boys are very hungry to get back there again.”

He added: “While we performed very well in last year’s final, we lost out to a very good side. So there is a bit of unfinished business and this year we believe we can go one better.”
