Ross attends the Liverpool school of excellence on a weekly basis and is a name to watch for the future. Elsewhere the under 15’s and 13’s had two more superb away wins against some tough opposition.

BUYA U11 3 Loughgall Colts U11 2: United progressed to the last 16 but have played much better this season. They should have been out of sight but some excellent build up play was thwarted by some good goalkeeping and some casual finishing.Ross McCausland always looked dangerous and fired the blues ahead before a defensive slip brought Loughgall level.United went ahead again through the hardworking Jordan McMullan and McCausland fired home again.A breakaway goal for Loughgall made it 3-2 but United had done enough.

BUYA U11 2 Roe Valley U12 5: A group of United boys travelled to the Coleraine league and performed well against the older Valley boys.An excellent goal from Bobby Rainey, another great finish from Adam Gaston but MOM was Connor Louw.

BUYA U12 4 Willowbank U12 3: United did enough but a hardworking opposition made it difficult for them.Good displays throughout including Max Davidson and Mark Butler, and two doubles for hotshots Matthew Lorimer and Ross McCausland.

Cookstown U13 1 BUYA U13 2: The Ballymena boys made a bright start to the game pressing the Cookstown defence and playing some neat football on a very good pitch.A good move saw three players combine, Eoin Robinson fired in a cross from the edge of the box, Ryhs Hemphill flicked on and Aodh︠an Gillen touched the ball home. A good move and nothing more than the boys deserved.

The second half started and again Ballymena started brightly, but a rare attack saw the Cookstown striker hit an absolute wonder strike which hit the net. The only shot they had on target all game so far. Ballymena had to regroup.Again it was a constant wave of attack after attack from Ballymena, the midfield and defence were winning everything, squeezing Cookstown and putting them under pressure at every overwhelming superiority that Ballymena were showing. Still it was 1-1 and despite the effort and ingenuity of the front men they could not get the vital break. On 29 minutes Ballymena were a free kick on the edge of the box, do or die time, the teamoved into position, Scott Marcus delivered a high floating ball right into the danger area.

The keeper missed the ball, a sea of bodies were in the box, sky blues shot cleared off the line, another shot ricocheted off another defender on the line and fell to Jack Heron who put his foot through the
ball and lashed the ball into the back of the net. A first of the season for the captain.
