The weather made it far from easy ast was very windy and extremely cold. That made Brian’s round even more commendable.

Brian went round in 73 gross, only four over par. That was superb golf from the talented 11 handicapper. His whole game was steady and he made very few mistakes. But it was on the greens that Brian really excelled.

He had a total of 23 putts, a statistic that any professional would be happy with.

This was Brian’s first major trophy success and he was overjoyed. In the past, he has won the Lady Captain’s prize for the men on one occasion and he also won the John Poots Open Fourball a few years back.

He needed the help of Patsy McCourt that day. This time it was all down to his own work.

Brian will remember this win for a long time. Every golfer dreams of winning one of the Cups. Brian has done just that and we are all delighted for him.
