Brian has best return in Jubilee

LURGAN golfers were competing in the Diamond Jubilee competition last Saturday.

There was one under par return in the competition and it was achieved by Brian Matthews. This 16 handicapper triumphed with a nifty net 67.

Brian had a better front nine thanks to a quartet of pars at holes one, two, seven and eight. At this point he was five over par gross. On the inward nine further pars came his way on holes ten, thirteen, fourteen and seventeen. A triple bogey on hole fifteen was his only wayward hole of the round. Overall he ended up four strokes clear of his closest challengers.
