Brian takes the plaudits at Rockmount outing

THE second outing of the year took the Hilltop Golf Society to Rockmount on Sunday April 25.

This, as always, proved to be a popular location with 29 in total attending.

Lindsay Bronte came in first to start counting the score cards and with himself hitting 36 points, to beat that would prove difficult.

Everybody seemed pleased with their scores, but they knew getting higher than 30 might be out of reach.

Clive Donaldson won the front line with 18 points and 33 in total, keeping him well placed in the overall yearly table.

Roy Annett took the back nine with 18 points and David Niblock striking powerfully landed the prize for longest drive.

Lindsay Bronte's 36 points on a count back, gave him 3rd prize and nearest the pin - making an overall pleasing performance.

Another ex-captain, David Annett, found a bit of form taking second, also with 36 points.

Just back from two days play in the south, Brain Groves who looked fresh, played out of his skin to score 42 points and was a clear winner on the day.

Mark Ervine enjoyed his first outing by collecting the visitor's prize with 31 points for his day's play.

Not having played from Citywest in September, Brian Halliday wished he had stayed away. Barney didn't get off to a great start as he ran out of diesel on the way to the bus. With just 17 points he needed another fuel injection - but had to make do with the best tryer trophy.

A very enjoyable day was had by all with D.N Tyres sponsoring some fine prizes. Next on the agenda is Castlereagh Hills on May 23 with all visitors welcome.
