Bridesmaids again

CURRAN Ladies returned from the Mary Moore Trophy final at Ward Park last Wednesday as runners-up to a superior Dromore eight.

The clubs have contested four matches this season and Dromore won three – once in Larne and twice in cup finals on neutral greens.

Opening with six shots on the first four ends Pauline Blair, June Moore and Lynda Simms, led by Margaret Shepherd, could have been forgiven for thinking this might be their day, but just one shot on ends five to 14 meant the Curran rink trailed 19-7.

They improved to claim four against two on the final four ends but were 21-11 losers.

Valerie Noble skipped Joyce Spiers, Eileen Magill and Marwin Hardy in a nip-and-tuck game, leading 12-10 after 11 ends.

Dromore’s experience told as they ran in shots on the next four ends to lead 18-12 and although Valerie’s rink scored three shots to two on the last three ends they lost 20-15.

The result was Curran 26, Dromore 41.
