Bridget in line for 150th cap

BALLYMONEY hockey star Bridget Cleland is set to join an elite group of players to gain 150 international caps for Ireland this Friday.Bridget will reach the magical milestone if, as expected, she plays against Australia in Dublin.

Last month Bridget - who is vice-captain of the Ireland side - was named ESB Women's players' Player of the Year.

The Dalriada schoolteacher has achieved success at both club and international level.

Bridget is a key member of Ballymoney Hockey Club and has been one of Ireland's most outstanding players in recent years.

Bridget made her senior international debut against Japan in 2003.

Her first major selection was for the European Championships in 2003 with further selections for the Olympic Games Qualification Tournament in 2004; European Championships in 2005; World Cup Qualification Tournament in 2006; European Championships in 2007; Olympic Games Qualification Tournament in 2009; and Champions Challenge II and European Championships in 2009.
