BRING ON THE GLENS!

BALLYCLARE Comrades manager Gordon Chambers will go head to head with Glentoran supremo Alan McDonald on Saturday as both sides battle it out in the sixth round of the JJB Irish Cup.

Chambers is looking forward to seeing his young reds lock horns with the Premier League champions in the glamour tie at Dixon Park when a quarter-final place will be the reward for the winners.

"Glentoran are the reigning Premier League champions, so the challenges don't come much bigger than that," said the Reds boss.

"The players are excited about the tie, and hopefully we will be at full strength for the visit of the Glens.

"We are in a rich vein of scoring form at the moment, having lost only once in the past twelve outings, and even in that defeat in Coagh we scored three! The boys were in top form on Saturday when they put six past Glebe Rangers after a stuttering start.

"Their early goal got us going, but really we played at one hundred miles an hour in the first half. Once we concentrated on putting a foot on the ball and making the passes count it was one-way traffic, and we coasted home with more than a little to spare."

"David Officer, Ronnie Burns and Ricky Lecky are all still out, but we have cover in all departments, and I know that club officials are looking forward to staging the largest gate of the season this weekend," he added.

Saturday's kick-off will be at three o'clock, and in the event of a draw there will be a replay in midweek at the Oval.

The reds lost 1-0 to Donegal Celtic in the WKD Intermediate Cup at Dixon Park on Tuesday night.
