British Legion on song again

Coppergate International Ballymoney and Coleraine District Snooker League

IT was another good night for the BRB Legion when they travelled to Triangle B - one of the top teams looking to win the league - and toppled the home team with a four frames to two victory.

The first two frames saw Barry Gilmore account for Willie Boreland taking the second frame after a nice forty break.

It got worse for Triangle when Leonard McConaghie having only his second match of the season beat Ady Toner by two frames to win the match.

There was no way back for Aidy McGonigle when Mark Hutchinson knocked in a fifty-one break on his first visit to the table and just took the second frame at the pink.

This was a very good performance from the BRB Legion to beat two of the top teams without captain S Walker who said if they had a settled outfit they could be league contenders.

Nevin Cup

It wasn’t such a good night for the Ballymoney men when all of them went out at the first hurdle with five times winner Leonard McConaghie losing by three frames to two, while club mate Sammy Walker went out by the same margin.

It was a battle royal when team-mate Barry Gilmore, who took the fifth frame on the black, while out went Dunloy player Brendan McTaggart losing out on the pink in the final frame.

It was an easy win for another Dunloy player Martin Crawley who beat Martin Crilly by three frames to one.

The competition sees a lot of the big break men in action next week with a few young guns coming down from Dunloy to state their case for the Nevin Cup.
