Broken ankle blow for Janet

A BROKEN ankle has dashed Janet Gray’s hopes of taking part in the World Disabled Ski Championships in Cincinnati this week.

It is the latest injury in a terrible run of devastating blows for the former World Champion.

However, despite being gutted at missing the World event which began at Voice of America Park in West Chester, USA on Thursday she is trying to remain positive. “After recovering from injury last year I was training for the Worlds and really looking forward to the competition,” said Janet.

“It was a freak accident really. The winds got very strong and as a result I fell and broke my ankle. It will be a case of rehab now over the winter and then a case of building up the strength again.” It was September last year Janet broke her ankle in three places in a training accident just ahead of the European Championships.

“It is a body blow, but I am going to remain positive and focus on getting ready for the start of the season in April next year and the European Championships.”
