Brown nets double as Comrades sink Dundela

A Gary Brown double set up Ballyclare Comrades’ convincing win against Dundela on Tuesday evening at Dixon Park in a Championship 1 fixture.

Two up at the interval, the Reds sealed the 3-1 win when Simon McGowan also got his name on the scorecard.

On the half hour Brown opened the scoring with a drive in to the top corner of the net, and just before the interval he doubled his tally from close range, after keeper McKay had spilled Adam Gray’s free.

Paddy Flood did well to tip over a rocket from Jackson in the 54th minute, but moments later, the Duns striker pulled one back.

Fifteen minutes from time, Gray again was the provider when McGowan completed the scoring.

Dundela finished with only nine men, when Gibson and Ferguson were sent off following a foul on Kyle Agnew in the 90th minute.

Commenting assistant manager, Gary Bell said: “This was our best performance to date, with Dundela’s main threat being long throw-ins.

“Unfortunately Gary Brown injured his ankle when scoring his second goal, and he will be doubtful for Saturday, but his retirement meant that new signing, Samuel McIlveen, made his debut and settled in well in midfield.”
